I use this flooring for a 12x12 home gym in basement. The rubber flooring is on the cement foundation so it's pretty hard. You will need shoes and a mat (or something) for floor exercises. Maybe put on carpet might not be so bad.The product was here in 9 days where the projection was 3 weeks, excellent shipping. Floor is extremely durable. If you need to cut to fit the room you should use an electric jig saw for it is very dense and heavy. I love the floor and highly recommend this product. I looked a long time before choosing this floor.They smell like tires for a few days, as others noted, but that completely dissipates after a week or so. They are exactly what I needed to protect my vinyl flooring from my flat bench and dumbbells.I am using these to set up an office area. The tiles actually are solid enough for a fairly heavy 5 roller standing desk chair to roll around on. The look and solidity are excellent.Needed something heavy to go on carpet and stay put. These met the requirements. Heavy duty rubber. There is a strong smell that takes a week or so to dissipate but it's worth it. Recomend.We purchased this to lay over a concrete floor in our basement, which we wanted to repurpose as a home gym. What can I say - this is exactly what we needed!It was easy to buy a base pack and then add additional pieces for the irregular space we had. It’s got a little spring in it, but it’s pretty solid and seems very durable. And the black with grey fleck hides the dirt pretty well :)It was also extremely easy to install, all the sides clicking into place very neatly. We just had to cut a notch off one of the corners when making an odd shape (see the third photo) - it took 1 minute with a steel rule and a craft knife.We spent several hundred dollars on this flooring and we are really pleased with the outcome. Would highly recommend this product if you are trying to do something similar.(Also, the customer service from the seller was great. Thank you).(Added note - some people have complained about the smell of these tiles. We didn’t notice any issue. Out of the packet, laid on the floor, no smell, done!)First, let me say that I assume most people are installing these on a cement floor or other hard surface. However, the room I am making into a workout room is already carpeted, and the product clearly says for indoor use (in fact, it seems primarily designed for indoor use, since it says outdoors UV will fade the tiles).If you install these on carpet, you will have a couple issues:1) They may not stay perfectly interlocked because the amount of give the carpet has lets the tile edges move vertically with respect to each other.2) The strength of the interlocks is... unimpressive. On carpet, you better get the edges right where you want them because there is no adjusting it afterwards. If you pull on the assembled mat hard enough to shift it, you tiles just start pulling apart. This is probably less of a problem on concrete since it is smoother.Second, the odor from these tiles is unpleasantly strong. From one mat on the first floor, I can smell it throughout the house even on the third floor. Hopefully this is temporary while the rubber off-gases. If not, I may have to return these or throw them away. Ironically, the product description says:"These responsibly-made gym tiles won’t pollute your air and harm your lungs during your workout. The only thing you’ll feel burning your lungs is that killer cardio workout you just crushed."Right. Would that be before or after you pass out from all VOC's these things are off-gassing?If it wasn't for the fact that I'm installing on carpet and I assume they work better on a hard surface, I would probably give this product 2 stars. I'm glad many other people seem to be very happy with this product, but they must have better ventilation and a harder floor where they are using them.Yes there is some off-gassing. Luckily it’s summer and I have the windows open and the fans going. Not a big deal. (I slept fine last night, the first night after installation.)These mats are super easy to put together! And fun. They look very nice. (I originally ordered the black but realized within a few hours that the grey would probably hide dirt better and go better in my apartment. I contacted the company who told me to cancel the original order and place a new one. I was a bit worried about that but it worked out fine.)They’re just installed yesterday, but they’re clearly very durable. I did a lot of research online, and this product stood out. I can already tell it was the right choice. I can’t wait for the rest of my home gym equipment to arrive so I can plop it on top of this rubber flooring!I haven’t put it out yet because we are redoing the room. Have taken some tiles out of the box. They snap together well, love the blue flecks embedded in the tile. Many reviews mentioned how bad they offgassed, I have not noticed any smell so far. I’ll know more when we install. Now my floor is installed and looks great, and does NOT smell. Not the floor’s fault, but the room echos more than the next room with carpet. I didn’t have enough of the right pieces to finish, so ordered more to finish the job. It sure looks great, and I love it.Tiles are dense, heavy, and fit together snugly. Exactly what I was looking for to protect the floor in our home gym while adding some impact absorption and sound deadening. Super happy with this product.
